VTT’s Living Lab charging station
VTT’s Living Lab charging station is a growth platform for innovations in electric transportThe electrification of traffic is a crucially important theme in relation to both the green transition and national competitiveness.
A testbed for EV charging solutions has been established in the Otaniemi district of Espoo, allowing for rapid testing and piloting of new products and services. The FutureHub charging station, part of the testbed network supported by the KETO project, provides a low-risk environment for experimentation and feedback. The area includes various charging technologies, such as the Sandbox Charger and Living Lab area, with opportunities for testing wireless charging in the future. The station is not limited to charging technology but also allows for the development of user experiences and payment systems. The charging station is open to customers, initially offering free charging in exchange for participating in a research survey. Sharing information and data among operators is encouraged to accelerate development in the field. The focus on charging solutions aligns with the global green transition, benefiting Finland and its companies.
