Academia Europaea and the Wenner-Gren Foundations recently held a conference on "Publishing in Academia – Digital Challenges." Discussions centered on the increasing costs of open publishing from the perspective of university management. This topic resurfaced at a two-day conference on "Open Science – from Policy to Practice," organized by the National Library of Sweden, the Swedish Museum of Natural History, and other institutions. State Secretary Maria Nilsson spoke about Sweden's proposal for the Council of the European Union's conclusions on open science. Panels at the conference addressed the Council's conclusions, the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), and citizen science. The focus was on transitioning to open science, promoting collaboration between EOSC and research performers, and highlighting the importance of citizen science. The goal is to make openness, transparency, and reproducibility integral to scientific research.
