Laurea Leads the Charge - Innovating Research Assessment Practices with CoARA

Laurea University has embarked on an ambitious journey with the international Coalition of Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) to revolutionize research assessment practices. By signing the CoARA agreement, Laurea pledges its commitment to adopt and promote the coalition's principles. Central to CoARA's ethos is a more comprehensive, holistic approach to appraising the contributions of researchers and other stakeholders in the research domain.
Unique to this venture is the emphasis on incorporating the University of Applied Sciences (UAS) sector into the CoARA process. Given the distinct nature of RDI (Research, Development, and Innovation) work in UAS, compared to traditional science universities, their participation is pivotal.
The CoARA initiative unfolds through international working groups and national chapters. Laurea proudly stands as a founding member of one of the recently unveiled working groups. This particular group's mission is to craft a benchmarking network for evaluating applied research, research-driven developmental initiatives, and cross-disciplinary studies. This collaborative endeavor rallies universities and UAS institutions from across Europe, including Laurea's 3AMK partner, Haaga-Helia UAS. The working group is gearing up to kick off its operations by the close of 2023.
