Researchers at Lund University have made a fascinating discovery in the battle against nanoplastics pollution in soil. Using advanced micro-engineered models, they found that while nanoplastics curtail bacterial and fungal growth, fungi display a unique ability to absorb and "clean up" these tiny polystyrene particles, a phenomenon termed as the "vacuum cleaner effect".
