New technology has enabled researchers to map the fast electrical signals within the Venus Flytrap, a carnivorous plant known for its rapid movement when capturing insects. The technology, called multi-electrode array technology, was used to examine the emergence and propagation of electrical signals in the Venus Flytrap's sensory hairs. These electrical signals are generated in response to touch and stress factors, providing insights into how plants react to their environment and stress. The study's findings not only contribute to the understanding of plant responses to stress but also highlight the potential of bioelectronic technologies for plant physiology research.
