Alumna Mira Hänninen: It is inspiring to see that my own work can have a positive impact on society
The most rewarding thing about the studies was that we didn't just study the content of regulation, but also considered what kind of practical impact it has on companies' business and decision-making.
School of Business alumna Mira Hänninen.Mira Hänninen is an alumna of the School of Business at Aalto University, currently working as a Contracts & Claims Specialist at Neste. She studied Business Law at the master's level from 2016-2020 and also pursued minors in Management. Mira's educational background is diverse, including studies in Law at the University of Helsinki, Spanish Philology at the University of Helsinki, and an advanced Master of Laws degree at Harvard Law School.
Mira finds that her broad range of studies has been valuable in her career. Her theoretical studies in law and practical knowledge of corporate law have proven beneficial in her current role. Her time at Harvard provided her with an international perspective on law, emphasizing the role of regulation and the impact of business on global markets. Additionally, her studies in Spanish equipped her with presentation skills and the ability to simplify complex issues for different audiences.
Studying at the School of Business was meaningful for Mira. The small class sizes facilitated active discussions and group work, and the presence of students with prior work experience enriched the learning experience. The lecturers were inspiring and incorporated real-life case examples into their teaching. Although Mira was busy with her studies and work, she acknowledges the lively student life and various activities available at Aalto, especially for those based in the Otaniemi campus. She encourages active student life and interdisciplinary opportunities at the university.
